Pêra

The Jardim de Luz is located in Pêra, 2,5 km away from the beach. Pera is an old traditionell fishing village that was here long time ago before the beach holiday resort “Armacao de Pêra“ was build. Many of the Portuguese from Lisbon and the North only come here during August to stay in their own houses and apartments. In winter you see almost no tourists at all, only locals who were mostly born here and never left Pêra. so this is the chance to improve your Portuguese language skills as almost none of them speaks English :).

In Pêra you find a few traditional tiny restaurants and cafes, a minimercado and a pharmacy. For those who prefer rather big beach restraurants, Pizza places or even vegan food they need to go to Armacao de Pêra, 8 minutes by car. There are some shops and big supermarkets. There is also a Farmer ́s market on every Saturday morning where you can get fresh vegetables. A big shopping mall is located nearby about 15 mts drive
